To qualify as a 2024 Voting Member: 2024 Dues paid by 11/1/2023 & at least 12 hour of registered volunteer hours in the 2023 Membership Year (11/1/2022-10/31/2023)

We have evening and morning monthly book clubs that meet to discuss a variety of different books and genres. Our goals are to enjoy reading and interact in a social and educational setting. COMMUNICATION COMMITTEE
The purpose of the committee is to provide support to the Island Women (IW) organization by managing the social media, internal communications, publications, and marketing materials as a way to share information among current IW members, and to enhance outreach and advocacy activities to connect with the general public. FLOCK OF FOOD TRUCKS
The Flock of Food Trucks is an annual fundraising event held at the Carolina Beach Lake Park. Please join this committee to receive email regarding this annual event. Any questions can be send to Kay Rutkowski(kaybelrut@gmail.com)
IW FLAMINGO BINGO COMMITTEE
Flamingo BINGO is one of Island Women’s annual community fundraising efforts. For 15 weeks, our membership provides a fun weekly event on Wednesday evenings at the CB boardwalk from the Wednesday before Memorial Day, through the Wednesday before Labor Day. Each week, we donate to a local nonprofit, and because we had such a successful year in 2023, we are increasing our weekly donations from $500-$750! We have a variety of volunteer needs. IW GAME COMMITTEE
A small group of Island Women are developing a board game featuring Pleasure Island. Please email games@islandwomen.org if you have any questions.

Our mission is to explore opportunities, and coordinate implementation of approved literacy initiatives. We collaborate with the New Hanover County Library, our local elementary schools, The Mural Project, and Carolina Beach Recreation Department to provide literacy initiatives and activities. This committee supports Martha’s Kitchen in Carolina Beach, feeding the needy living on or near Pleasure Island a hot meal every Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
