Mural #8: Marine Magic
By Raman Bhardwaj

Mural Turtle

This artist used bold, bright colors to bring these sea creatures to life. Jellyfish, sea turtles, and even sharks are all a part of the marine ecosystem. In Carolina Beach, we work to protect these animals and their ocean home. Below are some ways you can learn more about marine wildlife and how to help!

Can you find all the bubbles in this mural?

What are the names of the Marine creatures you see in this mural?

How many other circles do you see?

Are there any other shapes?

Our local library

Keep it clean

town’s plan
to keep trash off the beach and out of the ocean.

Tell your friends and family what you have learned.

Did You Know?

Loggerhead Sea Turtles are the most common Sea Turtle species found across the coast of North Carolina. They are an endangered species and are protected by law. May to September is turtle nesting season in North Carolina and you might come across a turtle nest when walking the beach.

The largest Sea Turtle found along the coast of North Carolina is the Leatherback Sea Turtle. An adult Leatherback Turtle is HUGE and weigh between 770-990 pounds. They like to eat jellyfish!

The most common jellyfish found along the coast of North Carolina is the Cannonball jellyfish. Another type of jellyfish found along the coast of North Carolina is the Moon Jelly.

Sharks are a special type of fish because their body is made of cartilage instead of bones like other fish. Sharks’ teeth do not have roots, so they fall out easily while the shark is eating. Shark tooth hunting is an easy and fun activity. Look for the dark triangular shapes  on the beach. Happy Hunting!
